Our guest speakers included Josephine Maiorana, Head of Regulatory Watch & Market Advocacy APAC at BNP Paribas Securities Services, who briefed us on the latest and upcoming regulatory changes that we need to be aware of. In Melbourne, Josephine was followed by KPMG’s ESG expert James Spencer. James spoke about measuring and accounting for ESG investing aspects and the trends he is seeing in this space. In Sydney, Josephine was followed by Bianca Sartori-Sigrist, Responsible Investment Manager, KPMG. Bianca spoke about ESG reporting.

Josephine Maiorana, Head of Regulatory Watch & Market Advocacy Product Asia Pacific BNP Paribas Securities Services

Josephine is responsible for regulatory watch and the product development, and strategic implementation. Josephine joined BNP Paribas Securities Services in August 2005.

Prior to BNP Paribas, Josephine worked at IXIS Asset Management Australia as an Institutional Business Development Manager. Prior to IXIS, Josephine worked at BT Funds Management from 1993 to 2002. In this time she was responsible for the successful implementation of the Transitions Management process along with the creation and development of the transition team. In her years of service in Transitions, Josephine has gained extensive experience in developing strategies to transition client assets in the most efficient manner with minimal market impact.

James Spencer, GAICD, ESG & Sustainability Strategy, Responsible Investment, KPMG

James is a sustainability professional with demonstrated history of embedding environmental, social & governance processes in the financial services industry across multi-asset classes.

He is skilled in ESG & Responsible Investment integration (including policy design & implementation), climate risk, proxy voting, modern slavery, ESG materiality assessments, circular economy principles, sustainability strategy and frameworks (e.g. SASB), corporate governance, investment governance an risk frameworks Experience in Superannuation, Funds Management, Investment Banking and Regulatory services.

Bianca Sartori-Sigrist, Responsible Investment Manager, KPMG

Bianca is a Chartered Accountant with a Masters in Climate Finance and 7 years international experience working within the financial services industry within consultancies. Bianca brings a combination of financial services, responsible investment, advisory, assurance and climate change knowledge to clients.

Bianca is experienced in providing ESG/Responsible Investment strategies, frameworks, policies and workshops to clients as well as working with clients on their ESG reporting and ESG Due Diligence and value creation for transactions.
